What IELTS Online Tests does well

This section is here because a comparison written by one side is worth nothing without it. Everything below is something we think they genuinely do well, and in two places better than we do.

• The free practice library is very large and covers all four modules, which is a different and in some ways better proposition than ours. Their homepage FAQ says the online tests are always free. Collections are published by month, and the two we fetched each carried two practice tests per skill across Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. We publish 81 reading tests and nothing comparable for listening.
• It offers marking by an actual person. For 19.99 USD an essay or a speaking recording is assessed by someone the site describes as a current or very experienced previous examiner, guaranteed back inside 48 hours. We do not offer human marking at any price, and if a person rather than a model is what you want read your work, that is the reason to choose them.
• You can read the question papers before you commit to anything. Three test pages we opened while logged out returned the complete paper, all 40 listening questions and the full reading passages included. Only sitting the test and seeing the answers needs the free account.
• A complete worked marking report is readable on the writing AI page with no account and no payment. You see the band, all four criterion comments, every inline correction with the reason for it, and a higher band model answer before spending anything. That is better than our own examples page.
• Candour where it costs them something. The homepage FAQ says a speaking mock score is a self-evaluation tool and should not be read as a representation of the real exam result. The examiner page volunteers that the team does not work at weekends. Very few products in this market say either out loud.
• The Writing Evaluation FAQ promises a refund to anyone who is not 100% happy, which is a generous position to publish next to a per-use price.
• Nothing renews at IELTS Online Tests. Every evaluation is bought one at a time at a fixed price, no subscription tier appears on their catalogue, and registration asks only for an email address and a password with no card field. For an occasional user that is cleaner than a monthly plan.
• Practice mode is unusually flexible. You can select individual parts rather than a whole paper and set your own time limit, which suits drilling one weak question type.
• Simulation mode runs Listening, Reading and Writing back to back in an interface built to mirror the computer-delivered exam. We have nothing that runs a paper end to end.
• A lot of named people with stated credentials. Seven on the AI development team, two of them described as former IELTS examiners and one the named founder, plus 24 instructors on the homepage each with a bullet list of credentials. That is more disclosure about who is behind the product than most of this market offers, even though what the bios list varies from instructor to instructor.
• Large PDF question banks, described as more than 120 listening sample tests and more than 100 reading sample tests in both Academic and General Training, covering every test they serve on the site.
• Scale and a long run. Their footer states the site is a product of InterGreat Education Group, founded in 2008, with offices in 12 countries.

Stay with IELTS Online Tests if

• You mainly want volume. If what you need is a great many full length practice tests across all four modules at no cost, and you are happy to make a free account to sit them, their library is bigger than ours and this is the clearest reason to choose them.
• You want a human being to mark your work. Their 19.99 USD examiner evaluation is assessed by a person and guaranteed back inside 48 hours on weekdays. We do not offer that at any price, so if a human read is what you are paying for, stay with them.
• You only need marking now and then and want to pay per essay rather than per month. An IELTS Online Tests writing evaluation by AI is 4.99 USD, nothing renews there, and no card is requested when you register. Four essays a year costs you about 20 USD there.
• You want to rehearse Listening, Reading and Writing back to back in a test day interface before the real thing. Their simulation mode does that and we do not.
• You want to read a full worked marking report, and the papers themselves, before you spend or sign up for anything. Both are readable on their site while logged out.

Where these IELTS Online Tests facts came from

Each of these was read on IELTS Online Tests's own pages on the date shown. Nothing here came from a review site, and nothing came from behind a login, because we did not create an account or pay. If any of it is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

1. IELTS Online Tests states that its online practice tests are free of charge. The statement sits inside a collapsed FAQ accordion on the homepage, in the panel headed "Are all the tests free?".

2. Taking a test requires a free account. On a logged-out visit to a mock test collection, all eight Take Test buttons link to the login page, and requesting an answer solution URL directly redirects to login. The question papers themselves are not gated: a test page loads for a logged-out visitor and shows the complete paper, including all 40 listening questions and the full reading passages, with an on-page notice that login is needed to sit it.

3. Registration asks only for an email address and a password. No card or payment field of any kind appears on the form, and the words card and payment appear on that page only in the footer block headed "Supported Payment Methods". We submitted nothing and created no account.

4. IELTS Online Tests sells marking per use, not by subscription. The premium services catalogue lists IELTS Writing AI Examiner Evaluation at 4.99 USD, IELTS Speaking AI Examiner Evaluation at 9.99 USD, and both the Writing and the Speaking human Examiner Evaluation at 19.99 USD each. No subscription or membership tier appears on the catalogue.

5. The 19.99 USD writing evaluation is marked by a person, and the site says who those people are, in the FAQ panel headed "Are the people giving feedback really examiners?". The same answer appears word for word on the speaking examiner page and on the Writing Evaluation FAQ.

6. The human evaluation turnaround is a guaranteed 48 hours, and the site volunteers in the same accordion, in the panel headed "Is your service really 48 hours?", that the team does not work at weekends. The answer adds that feedback usually arrives inside 24 hours at other times.

7. The only quantified accuracy figure published anywhere on the public site is on the writing AI page, where it sits in a statistics row under the heading "Our AI Examiner is always Effective", beside "Trained on millions of essays from 28 million students". No sample size, method, dataset, error metric, date of measurement or validating party is published for it, and no independent validation is claimed. We stripped the tags from 21 pages of their raw HTML and searched every percentage token, every band tolerance phrase and every statistical term. This is the only percentage that sits anywhere near accuracy language.

8. A second, unquantified accuracy claim appears on the IELTS AI Test page, under the heading "AI speed and accuracy", alongside a statement that the system is trained according to a rigorous standard using over 40 million tests. The same page says the AI provides detailed feedback for all 4 skills and returns results in just 30 minutes. Again no sample size or method is published.

9. The site terms state, under the heading "Refund Policy", that online products are not refunded. Both AI evaluation product pages repeat that position in their FAQ accordions with the sentence "We will not refund after purchasing."

10. On its Writing Evaluation FAQ, in the panel headed "Can I trust your site?", the site offers a refund to buyers who are not happy with the service. Read alongside the terms above, a buyer has two published positions to go on, and this is the more generous of them.

11. The IELTS AI Test page names a development team of seven people with one line of credentials each. Two are described as "Former IELTS Examiner", and one is the named founder of the site, listed as AI Technical Director.

12. The homepage names 24 individual instructors in its "Expert Teaching Team" section, each with a bullet list of credentials, and makes one blanket claim about their IELTS certification. What each bio actually lists varies: 11 of the 24 give no IELTS band figure. One instructor, Daniel Nyilas, is listed with a "DELTA teaching certificate" and a Master's in English Language Teaching from the University of Szeged. The certification sentence below is their claim, quoted as published. We have not audited it.

13. The site publishes counts of its own library. The listening PDF pack is described as more than 120 listening sample tests and the reading pack as "With more than 100+ IELTS Reading sample tests", both in Academic and General Training, and both said to cover every test served on the website.

14. A complete worked AI evaluation report is readable on the writing AI page with no account. The try demo control is an on-page anchor rather than a login wall, and the section it opens carries the prompt, the candidate essay, "Overall score: 7.0", all four criteria scored at 7.0 with a paragraph of written comment each, a long inline correction list where every edit carries a stated reason, and a higher band model answer.

15. Each mock test collection carries two practice tests per skill across the four skills. Practice mode lets the candidate pick the parts and the time limit, with options including "No limit", "10 mins" and "15 mins". Simulation mode is described as the best option to experience the real IELTS on computer. The page publishes two descriptions of the full test, one covering all four skills at about 3 hours and one covering Listening, Reading and Writing at about 2 hours 45 minutes, noting that the Speaking simulation is not yet available. The copy visible next to the Full Test control reads "You can take a complete test for the Listening, Reading and Writing sections now, just like in the real IELTS exam!", so that is the version we describe.

16. The site states plainly that its speaking mock scores should not be read as a prediction of the real exam result. The answer sits in a collapsed homepage FAQ panel and continues that the real exam applies stricter and more rigorous grading.

17. IELTS Online Tests is a product of InterGreat Education Group. The footer, which appeared on every page we fetched, gives a London address for InterGreat, a copyright line reading 2017 to 2026 and a Vietnamese registration number, and claims nearly 100 million practice tests taken across more than 120 countries and 35 million learners reached. A second London address is listed in the same footer, so we quote the company statement rather than assert one headquarters building.
